Term Description
Concept Tawarruq & Rahn
Applicant Eligibility
  • Non-individual entities such as sole proprietorships, partnerships and private limited companies
  • Shariah compliant business activities
Financing Margin Up to 80% of the current value of the gold item(s) (i.e., marhun value)
Financing Limit Minimum:
RM10,000 per customer for Gold Items (Non MG-i) & Muamalat Gold-i (MG-i) (Physical and Account);Maximum:
RM5,000,000 per customer for Gold Items (Non MG-i) & Muamalat Gold-i (MG-i) (Physical and Account);
Acceptable Gold Collaterals
  • Gold/jewellery (without precious stone) of standards 750, 835, 875, 916, 917, 950 and 999.
  • Accept all types of gold bars/coins/ wafers/ nuggets of standards 916, 917, 950 and 999 from all goldsmiths, gold institutions, gold producers and authorized distributors except those blacklisted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), “Consumer Alert”, “Fraud Alert” and “Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) Security Alert”.
  • Muamalat Gold-i (Physical and Account).
Pawn Duration (Tenure of Financing)
  • Up to eighteen (18) months.
  • However, the profit charges must be paid on or before each Payment Date stated in the Payment Schedule of the Islamic Pawn Broking Financing Contract (Muamalat Islamic Pawn Broking) as a condition to qualify for the financing period up to the Maturity Date.
  • The payment due date will be on the first (1st) day of each month for every payment cycle.
Profit Rate The profit rate is fixed at 10% per annum (equivalent to 0.834% monthly) and is based on the financing amount.
Note:

  • Six (6) months advance profit will be deducted upon disbursement.
  • A comparison profit rate calculations between Islamic pawn broking and conventional pawn broking is provided.
Payment Payment for profit-servicing and financing can be made via cash at our branches, account debiting, Automated Teller Machine (ATM), Cash Deposit Machine (CDM) and Internet Banking.
Pawn Redemption The pledged item will be returned once the full financing amount and profit charges have been fully settled, either before or upon maturity.

 

Profit rate is calculated based on financing value vs Marhun value

Example:

  1. Marhun value (gold value)= RM50,000
  2. Financing (80%) = RM40,000

How To Apply
  • Customers are required to visit our nearest branch to apply.
  • Bring along your original identification card (NRIC).
  • Fill up the Ar Rahnu BIZ application form.

Approval will take up to 25 working days. Once approved, the respective branch will notify the applicant.
