Stay Safe with These Important Tips
- The Bank will never call or message you to request your Bank Muamalat Card-i details, PIN, OTP, TAC, CVV, password, or Internet Banking credentials.
- Do not click on suspicious links, QR codes, attachments, or pop-up advertisements that may contain malware designed to steal your personal or banking information.
- Always ensure that websites are secure before making online transactions. Secure websites display a lock icon and begin with https://.
- Be cautious of scam calls, fake charity appeals, impersonation scams, and individuals posing as doctors, police officers, or government agencies requesting money transfers or personal information.
- Review all transaction alert notifications promptly and monitor your account balance and transaction history regularly, preferably at least once a week. This helps detect any unauthorised transactions, errors, or suspicious activities at an early stage.
- Never disclose your PIN, Internet Banking User ID, password, TAC, OTP, passcode, or card security details to anyone under any circumstances.
- Do not respond to unsolicited emails, SMSes, phone calls, or social media messages requesting your banking or card information.
- Only access Internet Banking through the Bank’s official website or authorised mobile application.
- Do not share your Bank Muamalat Card-i information with unknown persons or unauthorised third parties over the phone, messaging applications, email, or social media platforms.
Stay Vigilant Against Debit/Credit Card-i Fraud
Type of Fraud
Unauthorised online or offline payment transactions where a third party misuses your Bank Muamalat Card-i details without your knowledge or consent.
Common Modus Operandi
Your Bank Muamalat Card-i details may be compromised through:
- Transactions performed at compromised or unsecured merchants;
- Phishing websites or fake online shopping platforms;
- Malware or malicious applications installed on mobile devices or computers;
- Misuse by trusted individuals or persons known to the cardholder; or
- Card details being stored or exposed on unsecured online platforms.
Preventive Measures
- Use your Bank Muamalat Card-i only on secure and trusted websites or merchants.
- Avoid saving card details on websites or applications unnecessarily.
- Enable transaction alerts and monitor your account regularly.
- Ensure your mobile devices and computers are protected with updated antivirus and security software.
- Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks when performing banking or card transactions.
- Regularly review your account and card statements for any discrepancies or unauthorised transactions.
Reporting Suspicious or Unauthorised Transactions,
If you notice any suspicious or unauthorised transaction on your Bank Muamalat Card-i, please report it to the Bank immediately at 03-2600 5500 for further investigation.
To facilitate the investigation process, the Bank may require the following information:
- Cardholder’s name;
- Affected Bank Muamalat Card-i number;
- Date and time of the suspicious transaction;
- Amount of the suspicious transaction; and
- Reason why the transaction is believed to be unauthorised or fraudulent.
Providing complete and accurate information will help expedite the investigation process and minimise further fraudulent activities on your account.
You may also complete the dispute form (attached below) and submit it to the Bank through the designated channel for card dispute or fraud-related matters.
Cardholders’ responsibilities
Cardholders are responsible for the following:
- To comply with the terms and conditions governing the use of the Bank Muamalat Card-i;
- To take reasonable steps to keep the Bank Muamalat Card-i and Personal Identification Number (PIN) secure at all times, including at the cardholder’s place of residence. This includes not:
- Disclosing the Bank Muamalat Card-i details or PIN to any person;
- Writing down the PIN on the card or on anything kept in close proximity to the card;
- Sharing card details with third parties, except where necessary for payment processing, purchase authorisation, or adding the card to a legitimate mobile wallet;
- Using PINs derived from easily identifiable information such as birth dates, identity card numbers, passport numbers, driving licence numbers, or contact numbers;
- Allowing any other person to use the Bank Muamalat Card-i or PIN; and
- Leaving the Bank Muamalat Card-i unattended.
- To notify the Bank immediately or as soon as reasonably practicable upon discovering that:
- The Bank Muamalat Card-i is lost or stolen;
- An unauthorised transaction has occurred; or
- The PIN or card security credentials may have been compromised.
- To notify the Bank immediately upon receiving a transaction alert for any unauthorised transaction;
- To promptly inform the Bank of any changes to the cardholder’s contact number or personal particulars;
- To use the Bank Muamalat Card-i responsibly and not for any unlawful or fraudulent activities;
- To review transaction records and account statements regularly and report any discrepancies to the Bank without undue delay;
- To understand that the Bank will never request confidential information such as Card-i numbers, CVV numbers, PINs, TACs, OTPs, or passwords via phone calls, emails, SMSes, or messaging applications; and
- Customers are encouraged to opt out of Card-Not-Present (CNP) and non-3D Secure transactions if they do not intend to use such services.
